It was 1974 when my daughter was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and the very first thing I taught myself to crochet in single crochet was this blanket. My daughter still has it. I gave it to her a long time ago. I had her get it out for me and take a picture of it so I would have it and here it is. I crocheted four strips and then I sewed the strips together and then crocheted around the edge. Looks pretty good for my first try.
